Collection: Spirals and circles
Some of my earliest designs were achieved by forming spirals of silver, and these have continued to be very popular. There’s something about a spiral, or a twirl of silver when it catches the light that is both inviting and intriguing. The making process itself is similarly enticing. Shaping metal to give the illusion of flexibility is a process that demands both strength (there’s lots of hammering) and patience (sometimes it’s necessary to go through several stages of softening the metal with heat).
Each piece in this collection is handmade to order, so an individual piece might look slightly different from the one photographed.

Would you like to try jewellery making?
We have a range of different workshops for you to try - some take place over a full day, others just half a day. Prices all include the metal that you need to make the piece, but you can buy extra on the day. Free teas and coffees are available on a limitless supply, and there is very usually homemade cake!
All these workshops are designed with beginners in mind, so don't feel that you have had to try silversmithing before to be able to have a go. Of course, more experienced makers are also welcome - we're all about sharing experience!
Full day workshops don't include lunch, and you are invited to bring your own. The centre of Wirksworth is only 5 minutes walk from the Studio, but I find that most people prefer to bring something so that they can make maximum use of time at the bench.
We also offer the opportunity for you to try some of the techniques over a little longer period of time. If you'd like the idea of spending a few mindful mornings or evenings trying something new, then you might be interested in the five week blocks. These sessions are designed to show you a set of basic techniques, whilst helping you to create your very own piece of jewellery - but be warned.... they might just set you off on a journey that you are likely to want to continue!
