Seasonal enamelling half-day workshop

Step out of the beginnings of the December bustle and into the warmth of The Studio for a creative morning of making. Our Seasonal Enamelling workshop is a joyful, relaxed introduction to this fun craft. Using vibrant glass powders and intense heat, you will learn how to add stunning seasonal colours to copper to create your own unique Christmassy treasures.

Whether you want to make a sparkly star for the tree, a pair of festive earrings, or a colourful pendant for a Christmas gift, this session is all about playing with colour and enjoying the magic of the kiln.

What to Expect

This workshop is designed with beginners in mind—no previous experience is needed. I will guide you through the process of:

Designing: We will have a variety of seasonal copper shapes to choose from, including stars, discs, and winter-inspired forms.

Sifting: You will learn how to sift fine glass powders onto your copper, playing with a palette of festive colours—from deep berry reds and forest greens to shimmering winter whites and metallics.

Kiln Firing: The best part! You’ll watch through the kiln spyhole as your glass powder melts into a smooth, glossy, and permanent finish.

Finishing Touches: Once your pieces have cooled, you’ll learn how to add the final details, such as ribbons for decorations or silver wires to turn your creations into wearable jewellery.

What’s Included

Materials: All copper shapes and a beautiful array of lead-free enamels.

Jewellery Findings: Silver ear-wires or ribbons for hanging your decorations.

Tools and Equipment: Full use of the kiln and specialist sifting tools.

Safety Equipment: Aprons and safety glasses are provided.

Refreshments: Hot drinks and, of course, plenty of homemade festive cake.
