Make an organic silver spiral pendant using the technique of anticlastic raising – the art of curving metal in two directions. This is such a fun workshop - you will be amazed at the different ways your can make the metal bend and twist by hitting it in different places, and against different shaped stakes.
All tools, equipment and materials for the class are provided. Included in the course is a chain and enough sterling silver to make a pendant. Further silver will be available to purchase on the day.
What you will make:
You will make a silver spiral pendant that wraps around its chain. Or, if you'd prefer earrings to a necklace, that works too!
What you will learn:
You will learn to pierce (saw) an appropriate shape from the silver before learning the technique of anticlastic raising. This involves successive hammering and annealing (or softening) of the metal over a special shaped stake. You will practice by making a mock-up pendant using thin copper before making your final piece from sterling silver. You will finish and polish the piece.
